The midterm is 40 multiple-choice questions in 60 minutes on a Scantron. Expect definitions plus applied questions: MB/MC tables, shifting curves, reading graphs and short calculations. Questions tagged From lecture are Dr. Karim's iClickers and in-class examples. Pick an answer to see the explanation.
Why practise written problems for an MC exam
- Distractors are the answers you get from common mistakes. Working the full problem by hand is how you stop falling for them.
- The question won't name the tool. You get a situation and must decide: is this a shift or a movement? Elasticity or incidence? Absolute or comparative?
- Write the formula first. Midpoint %Δ, ½ × base × height, OC = time X ÷ time Y.
- Draw the graph for every shift, tax and surplus question.
- Say why. If you can explain each step, you can eliminate wrong options in under 90 seconds.
